KEI Medical Imaging Services is pleased to announce the company has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification. The scope of registration includes MRI and CT service, equipment deinstalls / installs, and part sales.

ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system. KEI was audited by QAS International, an accredited ISO registrar.

“Continuous improvement has always been a driving force in how we approach business and customer satisfaction,” said Gordon Schoppe, president of KEI Medical Imaging Services. “Achieving ISO certification validates KEI’s commitment to our customers and strengthens communication and collaboration within the company. We can sum it up in just 4 simple points.

Accreditation, Reimbursement (It's Required Anyway)

Regular PMs are actual requirements for MRI facilities in order to maintain accreditation and eligibility for reimbursement. A PM program ensures compliance and puts the onus on the service provider to maintain the schedule.

Protect Your Financial Investment (Breakdowns Are Expensive)

MRIs are sophisticated machines with great reliability, but the need routine maintenance. A sudden failure or total breakdown will cost far more in repairs, replacement and even greater stress if your facility loses revenue because it cannot service patients.

Avoid Service Disruption (It's an Ethics Point Really)

An MRI system that isn't functioning properly can be a safety liability. It also means you won't be able to help referring physicians make proper and accurate assessments for their patients. As a medical imaging facility, your operation serves a key role in ensuring quality healthcare. PMs help you fulfill that role.

It Will Save You Money (You Don't Have to Pay a Premium)

You don't have to pay a premium price to keep your equipment maintained. The original equipment manufacturer is not the only service option for PMs and equipment repairs. KEI's service programs are far more cost-effective without compromising quality and experience. Just ask.

The MRI machine is a true workhorse under normal wear and tear. However with the COVID-19 pandemic putting a higher use on CT systems, many MRI systems are sitting dormant in imaging departments throughout the medical profession. As necessary as this is given the situation, med-techs may be forced to contend with another unexpected crisis when MRI utilization returns - system issues.

In some cases, this is purely due to a shift in priorities and not mechanical failures. "We are experiencing a time we never anticipated," said Gordon Schoppe, President, KEI Medical Imaging Services.

"The medical field is being challenged on the emergency side, and a huge reduction in scans on the MRI side. We have had to postpone jobs or PMs in cases where they would have been inconvenient or cost may be an issue. Either way, we're fully prepared to assist on the MRI side when that comes back, or on the CT level as system utilization puts a strain on machines in the field."

CT scans have become the "first line of defense" in diagnosing suspected infections, especially given the current shortage of testing kits, according to Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)
